STORYLINE ONLINE
Storyline Online is a free online library of engaging and vocabulary-rich children's books. The homepage is simple to navigate, and displays the front covers of 30 children’s books on the user’s computer, tablet, or smartphone. Upon clicking on a book, the user is brought to a window with an embedded YouTube video. Each video begins with a brief book introduction by a celebrity reader, and is followed by the reading of the text. The read aloud is accompanied by an animated display of the story’s illustrations. As children listen to the story, they are exposed to advanced vocabulary which could strengthen their oral and receptive language skills. Similarly, all of the celebrity readers read fluently and with expression, serving as a model for both families and students on how children should read. Check it out! Below is an example of one of the many stories available on Storyline Online. Visit storylineonline.net for more!
